Greeneville Astros News Release

GREENEVILLE, TN - After a thirty-minute rain delay to start the game, the Greeneville Astros and Bristol Sox both got off to hot starts.

Bristol got a solo homerun to center field from Dan Black in the top of the first, and Greeneville answered with a two-run shot to left field from Marcus Nidiffer in the bottom of the inning. However, the bats quickly cooled.

The next four innings were scoreless before the Sox got another homer from Dan Black in the sixth inning, this time with a man on.

Later in the inning, with runners at first and second and two outs, Bristol added another score when Rafael Valenzuela fielded a ground ball and had a throwing error to first base that would have ended the inning. Instead, the ball skipped past first baseman Marcus Nidiffer and allowed the runner at second, John Spatola, to come all the way around to score.

Bristol tacked on one more run in the seventh inning off a Michael Schwartz RBI-single on a line drive to center field. That concluded the scoring as Bristol walked away with a 5-2 win.

Bristol starter Spencer Arroyo earned the win as he pitched six innings, gave up five hits, had two earned runs, and ten strikeouts.

The Astros continue their series with the Bristol Sox on Wednesday at 7:00pm at Pioneer Park. Gates will open at 6:00pm. It will be Military Appreciation Night. Tickets are available at the Astros administrative office and online. For more information on the Astros or a complete schedule, visit www.greenevilleastros.com or call (423) 638-0411.
