Southern Professional Hockey League Comes To The Coast

BILOXI, MS - Coast Hockey, L.L.C. has announced today that their application to play in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) has been approved by the SPHL Board of Governors and that the team will begin play in October 2009 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

A team name has not yet been determined and hockey fans are encouraged to visit www.nameourteam.com to submit their suggestions.

The ownership of Coast Hockey. L.L.C. is comprised of Richard Dedaux, Dr. Mike Diaz, Bo Lindsay, Jason Ondriezek, Chuck Thuss and Steffon Walby.

The Southern Professional Hockey League currently has teams in Columbus, Fayetteville, Huntsville and Knoxville. Additionally, the Twin Cities Cyclones are exploring relocation opportunities and the SPHL is currently negotiating affiliation agreements with two additional markets to begin play during the 2009-10 season.

SPHL Commissioner Jim Combs states "Our league's Board of Governors welcome Coast Hockey, L.L.C. to the league"  He adds, "The Mississippi Gulf Coast has a rich tradition of professional hockey and we look forward to being a big part of that tradition for a long time to come."

Steffon Walby adds, "Professional Hockey on the coast wouldn't have been possible without the dedication of prior ownership who has worked hard to maintain the sport in this city that they love." "We look forward to continuing their dedication to the community."
