Texas Fuel News Release
The South Texas Showboats have announced the signing of 2 more former San Antonio High School Athletes. Kenny Wilson(John Jay H.S) and Langston Grady(John Jay H.S). Mr. Wilson finished his time here in San Antonio and went on to play at Boise State University, then finally pushed his talents overseas into Czech, Republic. Langston Grady went on to play at Missouri Western University. "We are very happy to have so many of our local San Antonio athletes be able to come out and compete at such a high level. With the additions of both of these that gives us 9 active roster players in which 7 are from San Antono schools." said coach Mireles. Coach Mireles also is a local San Antonio athlete who played 4 yrs varsity at Robert E. Lee high School. Benjamin Mireles has been on his own since he was 12 years old and is now the owner and Head Coach of a team that he put together with no help at all. "I believe in the game of basketball and I believe in the athletes in San Antonio. I wanted to put this team together to be able to give back to the communtiy. Now I have a chance to do things for people and the youth. David Robinson has always been an idol of mine and I have great repect for the man that began and ended his career in San Antonio. I learned a lot about his career but most of all I learned alot about Mr. Robinson himself. He is a really great guy. I know we have a great group of guys that will compete this year and with additions of a few outside players like Frank(Ford), Robert(Harrington) and a few other big men, we believe in our solitude and believe we can be another professional championship team in time to come." said coach Mireles.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
