December 1, 2006 - South Coast League (SCL)
South Georgia Peanuts News Release

ALBANY, GA - Three weeks after the South Coast League visited Albany to unveil the new team name and logo of the South Georgia Peanuts, they are once again turning to the fans of South Georgia for help.

Today the Peanuts announced a "Name the Mascot Competition", where fans of South Georgia baseball will be asked to create a unique and catchy name for their future team mascot. Fans of all ages will be given the opportunity to fill out paper ballots or submit their suggestions via email to info@southgeorgiapeanuts.com.

"With the help of Peanut fans throughout South Georgia, I am confident we can find the perfect name for this character," said General Manager Keith Michlig. "The mascot will be one of our most important ambassadors in the community and considering the great response we had for the "Name the Team" contest, there should be no shortage of quality suggestions."

One lucky fan will be chosen to receive four tickets to opening night where they will be recognized for assisting in naming the mascot, a $50 gift certificate to the team store, and an autographed team baseball of the 2007 South Georgia Peanuts.

The South Coast League is a six-team based independent professional baseball league located in the Southeastern U.S. First pitch is scheduled for May of 2007.
