Sounders Travel To Montreal To Face Impact

July 12, 2008 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Seattle Sounders News Release

The Seattle Sounders (4-4-8; 20 points) square off against the Montreal Impact (4-7-3; 15 points) in the second of a two-game road trip Sunday, July 13. Kickoff at Saputo Stadium is 12:30 p.m. PT.

Seattle's recent woes on the road in USL-1 play continued Friday against the Rochester Rhinos. An early goal in the 8th minute was enough for Rochester, as Seattle had a mere seven shots in the 1-0 loss. The match was the 10th on the road for the Sounders this season (2-4-4). The Sounders, who have not won in their last five (0-2-3), face a rested Montreal side.

In its last game, played a week ago Sunday at home, Montreal was shut out 1-0 by the Puerto Rico Islanders, after conceding a goal in the 5th minute. The goal was only the second conceded at Saputo Stadium for the Impact, who rank first in the league with an average per match at home of 0.33 goals.

This is the second of three regular season matches between the two sides this season. The first match played June 29 at Stafire ended in a 1-1 draw. Andre Schmid's goal in the 80th minute snapped a scoreless tie, but the Impact's Patrick Leduc tied the match off a Rocco Placentino corner just five minutes later. Montreal returns to Seattle September 10 in potentially a pivotal regular season game to determine playoff fixtures.

All-time the Sounders have a record of 12-8-2 against the Impact.
