Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA - On Saturday, June 16, as the Philadelphia Soul take on the Columbus Destroyers, the Soul in conjunction with ProBuild will be working with the People's Emergency Center to collect baby clothes for the dependent children of homeless women and teenage girls in Philadelphia. They will be collecting new baby clothing and accessories.

Those who wish to donate can drop off new baby clothing and accessories at one of two collecting stations located at the Broad Street and 11th Street entrances inside the Wachovia Center.

People's Emergency Center is a community of concerned citizens with a shared belief in the equality, dignity and worth of every person. They recognize homelessness and poverty as systemic issues that require community responses. Partnering with community members, funders, government at the local and national levels, and the business community, they ensure that all families have access to the services, housing, income, education and technology they need to achieve and maintain independence. PEC's comprehensive co-located services break the cycle of homelessness by helping families achieve permanent stability and self-sufficiency. Grounded in 32 years of experience servicing homeless families in Philadelphia, PEC's program provides families with case management; emergency shelter, food and clothing; transitional housing; on-site child care and health care services; specialized after school and summer enrichment programs; mental health services; parent education; welfare-to-work services; and housing counseling.
