Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA (June 2, 2014) - The Back-to-Back American Conference Champion Philadelphia Soul will hold an open player tryout on Sunday, July 6 at the Wells Fargo Center. Soul head coach Clint Dolezel, assistant head coach Phil Bogle and general manager Tom Goodhines will be evaluating all players in attendance. Kickers will be evaluated at this tryout.

"With a high level of injuries this season, and the success we have had getting talented players at our open tryouts, we want to make sure we have talented guys ready to go if we need to call upon them for our championship run," said Soul coach Clint Dolezel. "If we can find another Ryan McDaniel out there, it will only increase our chances to bring home a World Championship."

The Soul found 2013 Rookie of the Year finalist, Ryan McDaniel, at last year's open tryout. McDaniel earned the starting job a few weeks into the season and finished with 65 receptions for 819 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also had an impressive 13 catches for 137 yards and two touchdown performance in this year's ArenaBowl.

A pre-registration fee of $60 can be applied using PayPal at www.philadelphiasoul.com before Tuesday, July 1. Registration on the day of the event will require an application fee of $80 (cash or cashier's check only). A t-shirt will be included in the cost and all fees are non-refundable.

On the day of the tryout, registration will begin at 11 a.m., with stretching starting promptly at 12 p.m.

Players will be tested on their 40-yard time, broad jump and short shuttle with other position-specific drills and one-on-ones to follow. Please bring appropriate workout gear and shoes/cleats. Testing will take place on the Soul field turf - no metal cleats are permitted. A trainer will be on hand for emergencies only - not for player taping.
