June 12, 2013 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Soul announced the assignment of WR Emery Sammons (6'2, 190, Norfolk St.) for the remainder of the 2013 season. Sammons, heading into his fourth season, was a member of the 2012 Soul who won the American Conference Champion and appeared in ArenaBowl XXV.

"We need to make sure we have depth at all positions on our team," explain Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. "We've been hit with injuries this season, so Emery allows us to have strong depth at that position. We look forward to incorporating him and his talents into our game plan."

Sammons, a native of Willingboro, NJ, caught 48 passes for 598 yards and eight touchdowns for the Soul in 2012. Prior to the Soul, he played two seasons with the Spokane Shock, where he won the ArenaBowl in 2010. Sammons has a career total of 133 catches for 1,571 and 19 touchdowns.

Before the AFL, Sammons was part of the Manchester Wolves (2008-09) in the af2. In 2009, he was named to the All-af2 team with 102 receptions, 1,146 yards, and 26 touchdowns. In 2007, Sammons was invited to two mini-camps with the Philadelphia Eagles and was part of the preseason roster for both the Soul and the New York Dragons.

Sammons played his collegiate football for the Norfolk State Spartans (2004-06) and was one of the team's main offensive weapons. Sammons is second in receiving yards (1,220) at Norfolk State since 1970.
