Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA (April 22, 2014) - The Back-to-Back American Conference Champion Philadelphia Soul announce a couple of roster moves today. The team completed a trade of future considerations with the Orlando Predators by sending them wide receiver Larry Brackins (6'5, 221, Pearl River C.C.) The Soul also moved offensive lineman Brennen Carvalho (6'1, 315, Portland St.) to the Injured Reserve list. Those moves allowed the League to assign the team defensive lineman Rudy Cerami (6'3, 315, East Stroudsburg) and activate defensive back Fred Shaw (6'2, 215, Central Oklahoma) from the Refused to Report list.

"It is always a difficult decision to move a player like Larry Brackins," said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. "Roster space and injuries dictated the need for us to make the moves. Larry did a lot of great things for the franchise and we are very grateful for his contributions to the team. We wish him luck in Orlando."

One of the many highlights of Brackins career with the Soul came in the American Conference Championship game in 2012 against the Jacksonville Sharks when he recorded a franchise-record total of eight touchdowns. He had seven receptions for 72 yards and five touchdowns, three carries for seven yards and two touchdowns and three kick returns for 17 yards and a touchdown in the Soul's 89-34 victory. Brackins is among the team's all-time leaders in receptions (258, No. 3), receiving yards (3,155, No. 3) and receiving touchdowns (90, No. 1) in his nearly six seasons in Philadelphia.

The Soul, who are on a two-game winning streak, make their ESPN return as the "Game of the Week" to a national viewing audience against the Iowa Barnstormers (3-2) at the Wells Fargo Center on Sunday, April 27 at 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2. This will mark the first Arena Football League game on the "ESPN Family of Networks" since ArenaBowl XXII when the Soul defeated the San Jose SaberCats, 59-56, to win its first championship on July 27, 2008.
