Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA (June 17, 2014) - The Philadelphia Soul, presented by Parx Casino, will host a "Town Takeover" in Ridley on Friday, June 20 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The Town Takeover, presented by Walgreens, will take place at the Folsom Athletic Association Field at 600 Kedron Avenue, and will feature a "walk-through" practice before their Ridley Youth Football and Cheer Fundraiser at the Soul against the Cleveland Gladiators on Saturday, June 21 at 6 p.m.

During the practice, kids will be asked to participate by "running plays" with the Soul team. This will be the team's last practice before the Soul (6-7) host the Cleveland Gladiators (11-1) at the Wells Fargo Center.

"This will be a great event for the kids in the Ridley Youth Football and Cheer organization as well as other kids in the area, said John Adams, VP/COO of the Soul. "Our Town Takeover is the perfect opportunity for young fans to come out and meet the players before our game on Saturday night."

Festivities at the event will include face painting, balloon artists, food, drinks, and live musical entertainment both before and after the practice. In addition to Soul players and coaches, there will be appearances by the Soul mascot, SoulMan, the Soulmates dance team and front office staff. After the practice, fans will be able to meet Soul players and Soulmates who will be signing autographs.

The next Soul game will be held against the Cleveland Gladiators. It will be themed, "COPD Awareness Night," with players sporting orange socks, decals on their helmets and patches on their jerseys to raise awareness for COPD. The American Thoracic Society is working with and supporting the Philadelphia Soul in raising awareness for COPD on June 21st. The first 3,000 fans that are 21 and over will receive a free Soul koozie.
