Soul Adds Mays And Odom To Coaching Staff

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Soul announced on Thursday the addition of Mickey Mays and Jerry Odom to Head Coach Bret Munsey's staff.
Mays will serve as Offensive/Defensive Line Coordinator and Head of Player Personnel, while Odom will be the Assistant Head Coach.
Mays has over 20 years of coaching experience. He comes to the Soul after coordinating the defensive line at Charleston Southern University from 2006-2007. At Charleston Southern University, nine of his players received all-conference honors during his tenure.
Mays additionally coached for the Orlando Thunder of the World League of American Football, Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League, Berlin Thunder of the NFL Europe and with the Orlando Rage in the XFL.
Odom has experience as both a coach and player. For the past two seasons he was the head coach of Coffee High School in Douglas, Georgia.
Prior to that, he served as defensive coordinator at East Carolina University (2003-2005) and as line coach for the University of Florida (2000-2002). His work helped Florida's defense lead the nation in forced turnovers in 2000 and was ranked ninth nationally for total defense a year later.
Odom also played for the Orlando Predators from 1992-1998. His team appeared in four ArenaBowls, winning the title in 1998. He is the Predators' overall career rushing yards leader and is ranked fifth in AFL history. Collegiately he played at the University of Florida from 1987-91, appearing in three bowl games.
Munsey enters his third season as head coach of the Soul. Last season, Munsey led the Soul to their second consecutive postseason appearance with a record of 8-8 in only their fourth year of existence. The team made it to the Divisional Round of the playoffs before losing to the Georgia Force.
The Soul, Your Team...YOUnited, are celebrating their fifth anniversary this season. The team has drawn an AFL-best 514,226 fans combined during the past four years. Following last season, the Soul were recognized with the Commissioner's Award as the Organization of the Year and were an honorable mention for the PRISM Award in the category of fan appreciation.
