Philadelphia Soul News Release

The Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League has announced the signing of three AFL free agents, offensive specialists Tyronne Jones, and Terrell Adams, and wide receiver/linebacker Shon King. The Soul has also announced they have acquired wide receiver/defensive back Keita Crespina from the Tampa Bay Storm, a Temple University graduate, in a trade for a future consideration.

One of the most sought-after Arena Football free agents this off season, Jones had 86 receptions last season for 989 yards and 20 TDs and was named the Georgia Force's Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Jones fell just 11 yards shy of becoming the Force's first ever 1,000-yard receiver. In six seasons in the AFL, Jones has 420 career receptions for 5,427 yards and 104 TDs.

Jones also holds the record for most consecutive games with a kickoff return for a touchdown with four (5/22/98-6/15/98), and has returned 230 kickoffs for 4286 yards and 10 TDs. Jones also has 28 missed field goal returns for 373 yards and one TD.

An All-Southwest Athletic Conference player in 1994, Jones led the Grambling Tigers with 33 receptions after ranking second on the team in 1993 with 23 receptions. Jones finished his collegiate career with 56 receptions for 1,254 yards and 13 TDs.

In his first season of af2, Adams had 78 receptions for 962 yards and 12 TDs for the Memphis Xplorers. Adams also had 27 kick returns for 639 yards. While at Mississippi Valley State, Adams was the leading receiver in 2001 with 66 receptions for 615 yards and five TDs.

In three games played last season with the Tulsa Talons of the af2, King had five receptions for 44 yards and one touchdown. King had one of the best seasons in af2 history with the Quad City Steamwheelers in the League's inaugural 2000 season. That year, he set the league record that still stands with 284 points on 47 total touchdowns (39 receiving, five kickoff returns, two rushing, and one fumble return) while helping the Steamwheelers to an undefeated 19-0 record and the ArenaCup 2000 championship. He was named the ArenaCup's Most Valuable Player following the championship game where King caught six passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns. He also had two kickoff returns for scores and a missed field goal return for another touchdown.

King went on to play for the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League during the 2001 and 2002 seasons. In 15 games, he caught 72 passes for 747 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also totaled 18 tackles and one interception.

A five year AFL veteran, Crespina played the past two seasons for the 2003 ArenaBowl Champions Tampa Bay Storm. Crespina finished third on the team with 47 total tackles in 2003. He also had nine pass break-ups, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. On offense he finished with 14 receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown. In 2002, he was voted the team's Ironman of the Year after leading the team with 61.0 tackles.

For his career (New Jersey 99-01, Tampa Bay 02-03), Crespina has totaled 235 tackles, 30 pass break-ups, ten interceptions and seven forced fumbles. He also has recorded 27 receptions for 289 yards and five touchdowns.

While at Temple, Crespina was voted team MVP in 1992 and was signed to a free agent contract by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1993 and returned to the Eagles camp in 1997. Crespina also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals in 1995.

The Philadelphia Soul will kick off their inaugural season against the New Orleans Voodoo this February 8th on NBC Sports. Season ticket plans are on sale now and can be purchased for as low as $80. For more information on season tickets call 1-888-PHIL-AFL.
