
Soul Add Another Anchor to Offensive Line

PHILADELPHIA (June13, 2012) - The Philadelphia Soul announce the assignment of offensive linemanGreg Ryan (6'5, 320, Western Kentucky) for the remainder of 2012 season.This now makes a total of 10 formerDallas Vigilantes' from the 2011 season to join the Soul - including formerhead coach Clint Dolezel who is the Soul's assistant head coach and offensivecoordinator.
"Greg was one of thebest offensive linemen in the AFL last season," said Soul head Coach DougPlank."He will help anchor ouroffensive line and his chemistry with an already strong offensive line willresult in a very smooth transition.It is vital in this game to keep your quarterback off the turf and givehim time to dissect the defense."
Ryan's additioncomes at a much needed time as the Soul placed All-Arena caliber offensivelinemen, Zipp Duncan and Christian Johnson, on the Injured Reserve list overthe past two weeks.Ryan will stepin and play alongside 2011 Second Team All-Arena selections: Brennen Carvalhoand Devin Clark.The Soul haveallowed a League-low three sacks on the season.
Ryan spent the 2011season with the Dallas Vigilantes.He played in four games totaling four tackles and one fumblerecovery.In 2010, Ryan played forthe Alabama Vipers and in 2009 was placed on injured reserve while playing forthe Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted rookie.
Ryan playedcollegiately at Western Kentucky University (2004-08) earning manyaccolades.In 2006, he earnedsecond-team all-Northwest Region and honorable mention All-America recognitionfrom Hansen's Football Gazette.Inaddition he was twice selected the "Offensive Lineman of the Week" to go alongwith earning All-Conference honors, named an All-American, and was voted teamMVP.Ryan was also a standout inhigh school, earning All-State honors in football.
