Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA (June 13, 2012) - The Arena Football League announced that Philadelphia Soul WR Donovan Morgan (6'3, 225, Pearl River C.C.) has been named the National Guard MVP of the Week for his performance this past Friday in the Soul's 69-62 victory against the Milwaukee Mustangs. San Jose's DL Joe Sykes and Georgia's WR Larry Shipp were also up for the award.

Morgan caught nine passes for 153 yards and recorded four touchdowns. Coming off an injury, Morgan is making an impressive comeback. The Captain has scored seven touchdowns in just three games back, as well as earned Cutter's Catch of the Week honors in Week 12. In Friday's game, Morgan scored a 17-yard touchdown with 13 seconds left in the fourth to give Soul the win.

The Soul effectively used Morgan to gain the edge against the Mustangs. Morgan, who scored 28 points, earned Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Game proving nothing can hold him back from performing on the field. Thanks to Dan Raudabaugh's pass to Morgan, the Soul are now 10-3 on the season and are the fastest team in the AFL to earn 10 wins this year.

On to their next road game, the Soul head to Florida to take on the Jacksonville Sharks this Sunday, June 24 at 7 p.m. at Sea Best Field at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.
