Soo erases deficit to stun Kalamazoo, 6-5

The Soo Eagles rallied from two goals down to secure a 6-5 win over the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings.

Soo let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Eagles took a 2-1 advantage on a goal by Michael Crowley at 4:15 in the second period. Soo found itself down 4-2 after Kalamazoo's Patrick Spellacy put the puck home at 6:04 in the second period. After tying things up at 5-5 on a power play goal by Robbie Payne at 16:01 in the third, the Eagles got the game-winner from Brandon Adams at 17:36 in the third period.

Soo surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Eagles average 3.2 goals per contest. Soo's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Eagles give up 2.3 goals per game. Soo put 43 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.9 it averages per game.

Soo also got points from Alexander Taulien, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Eric Rivard, who also finished with one goal and two assists. More assists for Soo came via Jared VanWormer, who had three and Mike Sabatini and Denver Pierce, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. K-Wings kept the Eagles' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Marble made 14 saves on 36 shots.

Luc Boby also scored for Kalamazoo. Other players who recorded assists for Kalamazoo were Mark Esshaki, Trevor Boyd, and Christian George, who contributed one a piece and Taylor Burden and Brett Beauvais, who each chipped in three.

Soo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Marcus Due-Boje rejected 37 shots on goal for Kalamazoo. The Jr. K-Wings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
