Boyd scored on the power play 17:30 into the second period, to make the score 1-0 Kalamazoo. A tripping penalty on Kyle Froese, had put the Jr. K-Wings on the power play. Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings 5, Soo Eagles 2, - Sunday, December 9, 2012 Kalamazoo was able to score early in the game and did not give up the lead the rest of the way. The second period started just like the first when George scored his second of the game when he tipped home a shot from Brennan Sanford. Minutes later, Davis DeKorte scored his first goal of the season when he slotted home a rebound on another Kalamazoo power play. It did not take long for the Eagles to answer back yet again, this time Chris Waterstreet crashed the net hard, found a loose puck and buried it the top corner to bring the score to 4-2, Jr. K-Wings leading heading into the final period.
