
Soo Eagles Take on Johnstown Tomahawks

The Soo Eagles look to start 2014, the way they ended 2013...hot. The Eagles are 5-1-2 in their last eight games, and have moved up the standings in the North American Hockey League's North Division. They will face the Johnstown Tomahawks on Friday, January 3 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, January 4 at 7:00 p.m., and on Sunday, January 5 at 3:00 p.m.

This weekend is "Pink in the Rink" weekend at Pullar Stadium. As you can see, the Eagles will be wearing their special jerseys this weekend, and they will be auctioning them off to any fan that would like to take one of these home. The silent jersey auction on Friday night, during the first intermission and runs through Sunday's game. Bidding starts at $100.00 on the jerseys. Also during Friday's first intermission, there will be a figure skating performance, and on Saturday, the Eagles will be hosting a girls team from Cheboygan. There will also be a Skate With the Eagles after Sunday's game.
The Eagles are in sixth place in the North American Hockey League's North Division (13-14-6) and are ten points behind Johnstown (18-12-2), who reside in second place. Despite being in sixth place, the Eagles are only two points out of a playoff spot, and fourth place.
The Eagles are led in scoring by Mike Sabatini, who has 10 goals and 12 assists this season. Ryan Urso is (4-11-15), while AJ Jarosz is (3-12-15).
The Tomahawks are led is scoring by Brandon Reinholz and Shane Bednard, who each have 13 goals and 12 assists this season.
Soo Eagles goaltender Landon Trutt is 2-0-0-1 this season, with a goals against average of 2.21 and a save percentage of .931. Nathan Klebe is 2-0-0-0 on the campaign, with a GAA of 2.24 and a SV% of .933.
Alex Okicki is 13-7-0-1 in net for Johnstown, with a goals against average of 2.58 and a save percentage of .912. Jake Moore is 3-2-0-0, with a GAA of 2.96 and a SVP of .905.
These teams are not strangers to each other, as they have already met six times this season. The Tomahawks took 2-of-3 at Pullar Stadium back in September, while the Eagles returned the favor in October, taking 2-of-3 at the War Memorial, in Johnstown. These teams will meet three more times during the regular season, March 21-23 in Johnstown.
