Solar Bears Add NHL Experience with Lampman, Brodeur

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears announced today that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Bryce Lampman while goaltender Mike Brodeur has been assigned to Orlando by the Houston Aeros.

Lampman (6'0", 200 lbs.) has played 10 games in the NHL with the New York Rangers and spent last season in Germany playing for the Hannover Scorpions. With the Scorpions he finished tied for second among team defenseman with 14 points and was third in penalty minutes (PIM) with 44. From 2002-11, Lampman spent the majority of his time in the AHL (American Hockey League), logging 386 games, 117 points (33 goals, 84 assists) and 294 PIM. As a member of the Hartford Wolf Pack in 2003-04, Lampman scored 25 points (7 goals, 18 assists) and helped his team to the third round of the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Prior to his professional days, the Rochester, Minnesota, native played one season with the University of Nebraska-Omaha (NCAA) in 2001-02, as well as playing for the United States National Under-20 team. From 1998-2001, Lampman played for the Omaha Lancers and Rochester Mustangs in the USHL (United States Hockey League). With Omaha in 2000-01, he was the Clark Cup Champion and finished third among team defenseman in points (21) and assists (11) while tying for second in goals (10).

"Bryce is a very experienced defenseman who can contribute in a lot of areas," said Head Coach Drake Berehowsky.

Brodeur (6'2", 185 lbs.) was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the seventh round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He has played seven games in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators, going 3-1-0 with a 2.17 GAA and .922 save percentage. In 2010-11, he won the Calder Cup Championship with the Binghamton Senators (AHL), and was named an AHL All-Star as a member of the Rochester Americans in 2008-09. Brodeur's AHL experience includes 102 games with a 40-37-6 record to go along with a .907 save percentage and 3.11 GAA.

The Calgary, Alberta, native has ECHL experience with the Greenville Grrrowl (2004-06), Augusta Lynx (2006, 2008), Toledo Storm (2007), Pensacola (2007-08), Elmira (2010-11), and Las Vegas (2012). Brodeur was named the ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Pensacola in February of 2008. Before turning pro, he played one season in the WHL (Western Hockey League), where his .929 save percentage was the best in the league.

The Solar Bears have released goaltender Brooks Ostergard and forward Ian Watters.
