Sockers Announce Open Tryout Camp on October 2nd

The San Diego Sockers will hold an open tryout camp on October 2nd at the Tobey Wells YMCA in Kearney Mesa. Local players are encouraged to come and work out for the Sockers with hopes of landing a placement on the team or the Sockers' developmental squad, the San Diego Fusion.
"We're very excited about the tremendous pool of talent in San Diego country and our surrounding communities," said Sockers general manager John Kentera.
"We're looking forward to people trying out for our North American Champion San Diego Sockers, and there will also be an opportunity to earn a roster spot on our San Diego Fusion team."
The San Diego Sockers won the PASL-Pro North American Championship in the 2009-2010 season, the franchise's 11th major indoor soccer title. The San Diego Fusion compete in the PASL-Premier division and take on teams from around the country.
Several players from the 2009-2010 Fusion team had opportunities to be called up to the Sockers during the season and contribute to the championship campaign.
"The Fusion are our top farm team," said Kentera, "and they scrimmage against the Sockers regularly. There's no better way to train and improve your game in San Diego."
The tryout camp will begin at 3pm on October 2nd. The cost is $25. Participants should call (866) 799-GOAL to register, and should send a bio or athletic resume by email to: info@sdsockers.com.
