Sniper Danny White Heads To Europe

December 30, 2007 - SPHL (SPHL)
Richmond Renegades News Release

In a closed door meeting with his teammates following Saturday night's victory over Columbus, Renegades center and leading scorer, Danny White, announced that he has accepted an offer to play in Slovania and would be leaving immediately.

"It's something I have wanted to do since I was in youth hockey," stated White. "They called me last week and I told them I was staying in Richmond. They called again Thursday and offered a deal that I simply could not refuse including more than doubling their original financial offer. They'll be flying both my girlfriend and I over, providing us with housing and a car and other nice perks. They said the offer would not be available next season so I made the decision to go. It was not an easy one to make as we are really coming together here."

White departs today for his home in Nova Scotia and then will be flying out Tuesday or Wednesday for Slovania. He leaves the team as its leading scorer with 7 points in the last two games. In total this season White appeared in all 23 games scoring 12 goals and 23 assists. He was a plus 4 and accumulated 54 PIM's.

"We are happy for Danny to be able to realize one of his goals. It's a bitter pill to swallow with all that has happened this week but the one thing the Renegades have this year is a lot of character and they'll still find a way to win," stated Renegades President and GM, Allan B. Harvie, Jr. "This week Goody was suspended for 12 games, JJ Wrobel took a puck to the face and will miss a few games; Sicard has a wrist injury that will need time to heal and now Whitey heading to Europe. But despite all this the boys came out and won both games at home this weekend against two of the top teams. That is character."

"You need to give Danny a lot of points for being the consummate professional," Harvie continued. "He knew on Friday he was leaving on yet he didn't lay off but went out and had the highest two game point total of his year. That says a lot about this young man. If it doesn't work out there Danny knows he is welcome back in Richmond.'

The Renegades leave Wednesday for a two game road trip to Huntsville and Twin Cities. They return to the Coliseum for a Saturday game with Twin Cities.
