Smoky Mountain Showdown II slated for April 3rd

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies and Walters State Community College proudly announce the date for the 2nd Smoky Mountain Showdown exhibition game on Tuesday April 3rd at Smokies Park. The exhibition game will feature a sneak peak of the 2007 Tennessee Smokies against the Walters State Senators, the 2006 JUCO World Series National Champions.

This will be the 2nd meeting between the Smokies and Walters State in an exhibition game. They last met on May 5th, 2004 at Smokies Park, with the Smokies edging out the Senators 5-2. With the Smokies beginning a new affiliation with the Chicago Cubs in 2007, this will be the first opportunity for fans to get their first look at the 2007 Smokies.

"We are thrilled to be able to host the second Smoky Mountain Showdown here at Smokies Park," said General Manager Brian Cox. "Smokies fans will have the chance to see this season's team for the first time. This is an event that we were very happy to be able to put together with Walters State."

The Smoky Mountain Showdown II will be held at Smokies Park on April 3rd at 7:15 pm. Gates will open at 5:30 for fans to enter, with the game lasting 7-innings. Tickets for this event will go on sale at Smokies Park beginning Tuesday March 20th, and can be ordered by phone or in person at the ticket office. Seating for the exhibition game will be general admission throughout the park. Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $5 for children/seniors. Walters State students will have the ability to purchase tickets for $3 on campus or at the Smokies ticket office.
