
Smith Flies Away To Baltimore

DURHAM, NC - The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball announced today that Pensacola Pelicans LHP Dan Smith has been sold to the Baltimore Orioles. Smith went 3-3 with the Pelicans with an ERA of 3.08. He struck out 73 batters in 73 innings pitched and had an opponents' batting average of .218.
The southpaw was signed as a nondrafted free agent by the Atlanta Braves in June of 2003. He spent five plus seasons in the Braves organization before joining Pensacola in July. Smith becomes the fifth league player sold to a major league organization since the end of the 2008 season.
