MARILLO, TEXAS- The Dusters hosted the Arkansas Twisters at home in the Cal Farley Coliseum at the Amarillo Civic Center. The visiting Twisters went home with a 48-26 victory over the Dusters.
The Twisters scored all the points in the first quarter as the game started with the Twisters taking their opening drive and scoring on a fourth down 37 yard touchdown bomb from quarterback Kyle Rowley to receiver Chris Denney. Later, after a long sustained drive, the Twisters punched the ball over from the 3 yard line with 1:50 remaining in the quarter by wide receiver Jon Schoonover on a wide receiver end-around run.
Both teams scored twice in the second quarter as the Dusters started the scoring via the ground game as Craig Fulton, Jr. scored from 3 yards out. Arkansas answered with 7:12 remaining in the half with an amazing one-handed 11 yard TD reception by Chris Denney. Amarillo then followed with Craig Fulton, Jr. grinding it in from 3 yards out again on a wide receiver end around score. Finally, with 8 seconds remaining until half-time, the Twisters quarterback Kyle Rowley found wide receiver Chris Baker in the end zone for a 3 yard TD reception.
In the second half, the Twisters got back on the board with Kyle Rowley taking a 1 yard quarterback sneak into the end zone. The Dusters answered on the ensuing kickoff and methodically drove the ball down to the 1 yard line where Craig Fulton, Jr. picked up his 3rd rushing touchdown of the night on the following play. The Twisters got on the board quickly again with quarterback Kyle Rowley finding Chris Denney in the end zone for a 14 yard scoring strike.
The fourth quarter had one score apiece by both times as the Twisters were first on the board with a 1 yard scoring pass from Kyle Rowley to wide receiver Jamaal Perry. The Dusters had the final score of the night with quarterback Julian Reese finding Craig Fulton, Jr. for a 12 yard TD reception.
Schutt Offensive Player of the Game, Arkansas' Kyle Rowley, threw for 221 yards with 6 total touchdowns (5 passing, 1 rushing). Craig Fulton, Jr. was awarded the Ironman of the Game after his great plays both on offense and in the kick return game for the Dusters. He ended the night with three touchdown runs and one touchdown reception. Jamie Hattley of Arkansas was awarded the ADT Defensive Player of the Game while Chris Denney of Arkansas was awarded the Cutters Catch of the game with his unbelievable touchdown reception in the second quarter. Denney ended the night with three touchdown receptions.
The Dusters will be back at home next week to take on the Rio Grande Valley Dorados. The following week, the Dusters travel to Lubbock for the second of three battles in the War on I-27 against the Lubbock Renegades.
