
Slaughter Signs Two New Players: Kevin Grady and Ben Sankey

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL - As the season nears, the Chicago Slaughter is excited to showcase two new recruits picked up in the off season. The Slaughter is pleased to announce two outstanding players, Running Back Kevin Grady from University of Michigan and Ben Sankey from Wake Forest University.
RB Kevin Grady (5'10 ¬Â 227 lbs.) established numerous state and national high school records while attending East Grand Rapids High School. Grady still holds many Michigan High School records including 8,431 career yards and 151 career touchdowns. He completed his athletic eligibility in 2009 with the Michigan Wolverines, and signed with the Indoor Football League's Chicago Slaughter on December 31, 2010.
In 2005, Grady was the back up to starter Mike Hart, who got injured in the middle of the season. Grady's freshman year he rushed 121 times for 483 yards and 5 touchdowns. Grady also caught 14 passes for 113 yards receiving. In 2006, Grady received the John F. Maulbetsch Award, for his outstanding work in spring practice. That season Grady rushed for 187 yards and 3 touchdowns on 55 carries.
In 2007-2008, Grady redshirted at University of Michigan. In 2009, Grady complied 80 rushing yards on 10 carries, bringing his career total to 783 yards on 200 carries and 10 touchdowns. Grady also completed 5 receptions totaling his career receptions at 20 for 150 yards.

In his last year at Wake Forest QB Ben Sankey (6'3 ¬Â 225 lbs.) was MVP in the 1999 Aloha Bowl against Arizona State. During his time in the NCAA in 1996-1999, Sankey had 238 completions, 58.8% passing percentage, 2,750 yards, and 15 touchdowns. Sankey signed with the CFL Calgary Stampeders in 2000. In his years with the CFL, Sankey won 2 Grey Cup Titles.
Sankey, an 11 year veteran with teams such as: Calgary Stampeders, Houston Texans, Hamilton Tiger Cats, Tennessee Valley Raptors, Rock River Raptors, BC Lions, Omaha Beef, and the Omaha Nighthawks joined the Chicago Slaughter in January 2011. In 2006, Sankey received the MVP for the United Indoor Football. In three appearances Sankey threw for 818 yards and 5 touchdowns for a quarterback rating of 106.6%. In his time with the CFL in 2000-2002, and 2007, Sankey completed 208 passes, 63.4% passing percentage, 2,818 yards, and 22 touchdowns.
Sankey who was named ¬ÅQB Second Team All-IFL: Offense ¬Â, has a lot of enthusiasm in beginning this season, and had a message for all Chicago Slaughter fans, ¬ÅI'm thrilled to be with this team. I know some of the players already and the talent is definitely here. I feel the Slaughter is on the cusp of achieving great things. I'm so excited to be a part of this fine organization and football family. ¬Â
