BELLINGHAM, Wash. - With one quarter of their first International Basketball League season complete, a pair of Bellingham Slam players are among the league's scoring leaders. Guards Ryan Diggs and Jacob Stevenson, the Slam's top two scorers, find themselves ranked fourth and ninth, respectively, in the IBL in scoring after their first five games.

Diggs, in his second professional season since finishing second among Western Washington's career scoring leaders, is averaging 26.0 points per game after scoring 34 points in Bellingham's 116-106 win over the Snohomish County Explosion on April 4. Diggs is also shooting an impressive 57 percent from the floor and averaging 5.2 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game.

Stevenson, in his third season with the Slam, is averaging 23.4 points per game and has seen his scoring production increase in each of his three seasons. Stevenson is coming off a pair of 30-plus point games, scoring 34 points against Snohomish County on April 4 and 31 points against the Vancouver Volcanoes on March 29. Stevenson is shooting 46.9 percent from the field and is also the Slam's most proficient free throw shooting, connecting on 92.7 percent of his foul shots.

The Slam continue a three-game homestand on Friday as they take on the Portland Chinooks at 7 p.m. at Whatcom Pavilion. The Chinooks are the IBL's defending Western Conference champions, having fallen to the Elkhart Express in the IBL championship game last summer.
