Oakland Slammers News Release

Oakland, California - The Oakland Slammers professional basketball team today confirmed Merritt College as their home venue for the 2006 season. The public two-year college campus in the Oakland Hills will host the International Basketball League team beginning with an exhibition game on Tuesday, April 4th 2006 at 7:15pm. Counting the exhibition game, a total of 11 games will be played at the venue, culminating with a six-home-game stretch late in the season.

The selection of Merritt College was fostered by its gym capacity, welcoming campus atmosphere, and established position as a community entity. This year marks the 50th anniversary for the Oakland college.

"We are thrilled to call Merritt College our new home court" said Team Owner Ivan White of the second-year team.

Ivan said that he feels the Oakland team has a stronger season in store for 2006. In their inaugural 2005 season, the Slammers placed seventh in the Western Conference featuring scoring leaders Solomon Wilkins 25.9 points per game, Delonte Hoskins 17.9, Carey Williams 17.5 and Larry Morinia 16.2 points per game.
