Bellingham Slam News Release

MONTEBELLO, Calif. - The Bellingham Slam broke open a tie game late as they defeated the Los Angeles All-Stars 133-188 at Schurrs High School on Saturday.

Leading 67-56 at halftime, the Slam opened the third quarter with two quick buckets to extend their lead, before Los Angeles used a 15-4 midway through the quarter to trim the deficit to 7, at 85-78. Bellingham was able to re-establish a double-digit lead late in the frame, but Los Angeles responded with 6 straight to make the score 97-91 after three.

An 8-0 run by the All-Stars gave them their first lead since the opening minute, at 107-106, with 5:36 left.

But guard Morris Anderson and forward Nick Moore connected on back-to-back three pointers to give the lead back to Bellingham and they never looked back after that. A 9-2 run by the Slam under two minutes quelled any chance of a second comeback by Los Angeles.

Guard Jacob Stevenson was the superior player for Bellingham, with a game-high 41 points. Moore finished with 23 while center Blake Poole contributed a double-double of 21 points and 18 rebounds.

Guard Vince Camper led Los Angeles with 39 points.

With a postponment of Bellingham's final game of the road trip on Sunday, the Slam now returns home to face the Santa Barbara Breakers on Friday, June 6. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Whatcom Pavilion.
