MONROE, Wash. - The Bellingham Slam overcame an 11-point halftime deficit, but could not hold on for a victory as they were defeated by the Snohomish County Explosion, 116-106, in a gritty International Basketball League season opener at the Monroe Sports Arena on Saturday.
Bellingham (0-1) used a 37-point third quarter to claw their way back into the contest, and briefly took the lead with seven minutes to play in the game, at 98-97, before the Explosion used a 13-1 run over the next five minutes to put the game out of reach.
