Slam looking to help keep West's win streak alive in All-Star Game

June 11, 2008 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Bellingham Slam News Release

GARY, Ind. - The Bellingham Slam's representatives at the 2008 International Basketball League All-Star Game will be under a bit of pressure Thursday as they look to keep the West's perfect All-Star record intact. The West currently holds a 2-0 record in the IBL's annual East-West exhibition. Festivities are set to begin at 4 p.m. Pacific Time from the Genesis Center in Gary, Indiana.

The Slam will have three players - Ryan Diggs, Jacob Stevenson and Tyler Amaya - plus coach Rob Ridnour represented on the West squad for the game.

The trio of players, all hailing from Western Washington University, are the Slam's top three scorers, with Diggs leading the way with a 26.0 points per game average.

Ridnour, in his third season coaching the Slam, has directed his team to a conference-best 14-2 record and the team is currently riding a twelve-game winning streak. Ridnour has compiled a career coaching record of 55-28 with the Slam, counting the team's first two seasons in the ABA which included trips to the championship quarter-finals.

Following the All-Star Game, the four will re-join the Slam in Vancouver in time for their critical match-up against the Volcanoes on June 14. A win over Vancouver would virtually assure the Slam of the number one seed in the IBL's Western Conference playoff tournament which begins on June .

A live statistics webcast of the All-Star Game will be streamed on the Slam's website at www.bellinghamslam.com. For more information, contact the Slam at (360) 734-SLAM
