Bellingham Slam News Release
MODESTO, Calif. - Mike Parker and Brandon Hartley combined for 69 points as the Bellingham Slam cruised to a 159-102 win over the Big Valley Shockwave in an American Basketball Association game at Modesto Junior College on Friday night.
The duo of Parker and Hartley, dubbed the "Thurston County Connection" as they played collegiately for the county's two universities, Evergreen State and Saint Martin's respectively, helped the Slam snap a three-game losing skid. Parker led all scorers with 35 points, while Hartley contributed 34.
Hartley opened and closed the scoring for the Slam during a game in which they never trailed. Bellingham jetted out to a 42-21 lead after the first quarter and never led by less than 20 after that. The Slam scored a record 54 points in the fourth quarter to finish out the game.
Bellingham (19-9) also received another triple-double from Scott Freymond, his third of the season, by way of 25 points, 12 assists, and ten rebounds. Freymond's last triple-double also came against the Shockwave, back on Feb. 2 in Bellingham.
Kevin Young scored 23 points for the Shockwave (2-15), while Myree Bowden notched a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Bellingham will look to complete a sweep of their season series with the Shockwave in a rematch tomorrow at Modesto Junior College. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m.
