Skyforce to Host 2012 NBA Development League Draft Party

Sioux Falls, S.D. (Oct. 17, 2012) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce will host their 2012 NBA Development League Draft party at Tinner's Bar & Grill (449 W. 69th St.) on Friday, Nov. 2. beginning at 5:45 p.m. The event will take place in the Tinner's Event Center and season ticket packets will be available for pickup.
Skyforce coaches, front office staff, Skyleaders and Thunder will be in attendance and several great prizes will be given away throughout the evening. Complimentary appetizers and a cash bar will be available.
The 2012 NBA D-League Draft order will be determined based on teams that did not qualify for the previous season's playoffs, in reverse order of record, followed by those teams that did qualify for the previous season's playoffs, also in reverse order of record. Based on this format, newly implemented for the 2012-13 season, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants have been awarded the first overall selection in next month's Draft, with the Skyforce, Idaho Stampede, Maine Red Claws and Reno Bighorns rounding out the top five, respectively.
More than 20 players selected in the last three NBA D-League Drafts went on to earn GATORADE call-ups to the NBA, including Jamaal Tinsley, the first overall selection in 2011. Ten additional members of the last three NBA D-League Draft classes had NBA experience at the time of their selection.
Each of the NBA D-League's 16 teams will be given one pick in each of the eight rounds. No trades will be permitted during the draft and only players signed to an NBA D-League Standard Player Contract are eligible to be selected.
In addition to the second overall pick, Sioux Falls will have the second pick in the second, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth rounds. Sioux Falls traded their third- and fourth-round draft picks to Canton and Iowa last season in exchange for forwards Trey Gilder and Charles Garcia, respectively.
Season tickets and 12-ticket flex packs for the 2012-13 season are on sale. Discounts and benefits are available for groups of 10 or more. Single game tickets will go on sale on Friday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. The home opener is set for Saturday, Nov. 24 against the Iowa Energy. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Arena.
