Skychiefs and Blue Jays extend player development contract

April 13, 2004 - International League (IL1)
Syracuse Mets News Release

Syracuse, NY- The Syracuse SkyChiefs and Toronto Blue Jays announced today that they have extended their Player Development Contract through the 2006 season. The previously signed fouryear agreement from 2000 expires after the 2004 season.

The 2004 season marks the 27th consecutive season that Syracuse has been the Triple-A affiliate of the Blue Jays. The relationship is the thirteenth longest of the 160 Minor League Teams affiliated with Major League Teams. The Appalachian League's Bluefield Orioles and the American League Baltimore Orioles have been united for 46 years (1958), the longest current affiliation. Syracuse has been affiliated with the Toronto Blue Jays since 1978 and has been the only AAA-affiliate the Blue Jays have ever had.

During the affiliation with Toronto, Syracuse has won two International League Pennants (1985 and 1989), and has reached the Governor's Cup Championship Series twice (1979 and 1994).
