Sky Blue FC News Release
Piscataway, N.J. - Sky Blue FC (0-2-1, 1 point) will return to National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) action on Saturday, hosting the Houston Dash (0-3-2, 2 points) at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. Kickoff for the match will take place at 7:00 p.m. ET, and fans can purchase tickets online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX.
"For us, it has been tough to find consistency since we have only played three games. Other teams have gotten a little bit more of an opportunity to develop their chemistry," said Denise Reddy, Sky Blue FC head coach. "Over the past two weeks, we have been looking to get into our best rhythm, especially in the final third. We have a really good base and a really good idea of how we want to play, and our goal is to execute it for longer periods of time against Houston."
Sky Blue FC last hit the field on April 21 when it traveled to play the Chicago Red Stars at Toyota Park. In that match, the team fell behind in the opening minute after Sofia Huerta was able to give the Red Stars a 1-0 advantage. However, Sky Blue FC blanked Chicago the rest of the way, and a Katie Johnson to Savannah McCaskill connection in the 78th minute proved to be the equalizing score of an eventual 1-1 result.
Houston enters Saturday night amid an 11-game winless run that dates back to the 2017 season. The Dash met the North Carolina Courage as the NWSL on Lifetime Game of the Week last Saturday, falling 2-0 to the top-ranked Courage. Crystal Dunn and Jessica McDonald were responsible for the two North Carolina goals.
Historically, Sky Blue FC leads the all-time series between these two clubs, owning an accumulative 6-1-3 record. Houston won the first-ever meeting, 3-0, but Sky Blue FC has gone 6-0-3 since that first match-up at Yurcak Field.
Both group and individual game tickets are on sale, and fans can purchase them online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849). For all of the latest news and information from Sky Blue FC, make sure to follow us on social media: @SkyBlueFC
