Harrison, N.J. - Rookie goalkeeper Amanda "Mandy" McGlynn and Sky Blue FC agreed to a one-year contract ahead of the 2020 National Women's Soccer League Challenge Cup. Per team and league policies, further details were not disclosed.
"I'm beyond thrilled to officially be part of Sky Blue FC," said McGlynn. "Training at the professional level has been so exciting and I've already learned so much. I'm grateful for this opportunity and I can't wait to give this Club all I've got."
McGlynn, 21, was selected with pick number 20 in the 2020 NWSL College Draft. A standout goalkeeper during her time with Virginia Tech, McGlynn made 75 starts and ended with a 41-23-11 record. McGlynn was named as a 2019 United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American as a senior. She finished her collegiate career first all-time in shutouts (32) and goals-against average (0.99), as well as second in wins (41), save percentage (.794), and goalkeeper minutes (7,014).
McGlynn has been a member of the United States U-18, U-20, and U-23 Women's National Teams. She helped the U.S. qualify for the 2018 U-20 FIFA Women's World Cup and started in the 2018 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship.
"I am thrilled to offer Mandy her first professional contract," said Head Coach Freya Coombe. "We have been thoroughly impressed with her transition into the professional environment following the NWSL draft in January. I think she has a bright future in the game."
Sky Blue FC will be kicking off the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup in Utah against OL Reign on June 30. All Sky Blue preliminary round games will be broadcast on CBS All Access and available on Twitch for fans outside the U.S. and Canada. More details on the Challenge Cup can be found here.
