Morristown, N.J. - Sky Blue FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) officially announced today that it will continue its partnership with KICK ALS! into the 2016 NWSL campaign. The relationship between the two organizations originally began in 2011, and this announcement marks five years in which the two groups have combined forces in the fight against ALS.

"We are proud to continue our partnership with Tom Fraehmke and the team at KICK ALS!" said Tony Novo, Sky Blue FC President & General Manager. "ALS is a devastating disease that requires us all to do our part in raising more global awareness. We ask everyone to join Sky Blue FC and KICK ALS! in rallying as many people as possible to join the fight to find a cure."

KICK ALS! was founded by Fraehmke as a Facebook group in 2010, combining his two passions of enjoying soccer and raising awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (aka Lou Gehrig's Disease). His wife, Marlene, lost her 11-year battle with ALS in October of 2014, but he and his son, Christian, continue the fight in her memory.

"As a grassroots organization, KICK ALS! was first welcomed by Sky Blue FC in 2011, and our partnership has steadily grown with each passing and subsequent season," Fraehmke remarked. "Renewing as an organizational partner of Sky Blue FC affirms our expanding cooperation as we plan for this year's KICK ALS! event to benefit local ALS charities."

In addition to Sky Blue FC, KICK ALS! has put together events with the Philadelphia Union, New York Red Bulls and New York Cosmos to benefit various ALS charitable organizations. KICK ALS! worked with Faith4PALS and the LA Galaxy at the 2011 MLS Cup Final, and they also held a 2012 event in conjunction with a Real Madrid vs. Celtic FC match in Philadelphia. Additionally, the Texas Chapter of the ALS Association held a KICK ALS! event with FC Dallas in 2013.

Next up for KICK ALS! is the 10th Annual Valentine's Plunge that will take place on February 13th in Manasquan, N.J. Registration for that event, which raises money for ALS awareness, is now open.
