Howell, N.J. - Sky Blue FC defender and New Jersey native Erica Skroski agreed to a new one-year contract with a one-year option ahead of the 2020 National Women's Soccer League season. Per team and league policies, further details were not disclosed.
"I am so excited to be back with Sky Blue and to continue to represent the club and New Jersey," said Skroski. "It's an extremely exciting time for the club and I think it's going to be a very fun and competitive season. See you all at Red Bull Arena!"
Skroski, 25, will be entering her fifth season with Sky Blue. During the 2019 season, she started in all 24 matches on the backline and completed 85 clearances, 46 interceptions, and 20 blocks.
"We are thrilled to re-sign Erica and have her compete at Red Bull Arena in front of her local crowd," said Head Coach Freya Coombe. "Erica brings such strength and speed to our backline and is ferocious in the tackle."
The New Jersey native was drafted by Sky Blue out of Rutgers University as the No. 23 overall pick in the 2016 NWSL College Draft and has appeared in 85 games (84 starts) for her home State.
"Erica brings versatility and grit to our backline," said General Manager Alyse LaHue. "As a New Jersey native she has spent her whole playing career in the State and we are happy to have her continue with her home club for another season."
