Sky Blue FC News Release
Howell, N.J. - Sky Blue FC player Domi Richardson has agreed to a new one-year contract with a one-year option ahead of the 2020 National Women's Soccer League season. Per team and league policies, further details were not disclosed.
"I am looking forward to coming back to an incredible environment that has been cultivated here in New Jersey, along with the opportunity to play in a world class stadium," said Richardson. "This is truly a very exciting time to be a member of Sky Blue; I am thrilled to be able to come back and can't wait to take on the new season!"
Richardson, 27, will be entering her fifth season with Sky Blue FC. She finished the 2019 season appearing in 8 games on the backline, with an 82% tackles success rate, 20 clearances, and scored one goal.
"Domi finished last season on a high note with her goal against the Courage and I am really excited for this momentum to continue into this season," said Head Coach Freya Coombe. "She is one of the best players I have seen at striking a ball and her range of passing makes her a real threat to teams."
Richardson signed with Sky Blue FC in 2016 as a free agent. She has appeared in 35 NWSL matches, playing a total of 2,641 minutes and has scored one goal and notched one assist.
"Domi is another player who has been with Sky Blue for many years and has been a consummate professional and fantastic teammate during that time," said General Manager Alyse LaHue. "We unfortunately didn't get to see her enough during the 2019 season due to injury, so we're really pleased to see her back at full strength and have her contribute to our playoff push this season."
Sky Blue FC will be kicking off its inaugural season at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, April 26 at 5 pm ET as they host Megan Rapinoe and Reign FC. Single game and group tickets will be announced soon. Season Ticket Memberships are on sale now at SkyBlueFC.com. For Sky Blue FC's full season schedule, visit https://skybluefc.com/schedule/.
