Sky Blue FC Offense Scores Three Goals, Extends Unbeaten Streak to Three Games

Piscataway, N.J. - For the second consecutive week, the Sky Blue FC (3-6-5, 14 points) offense exploded for three goals on Saturday, defeating the Boston Breakers (3-8-3, 12 points) at Yurcak Field, 3-1. Kelley O'Hara recorded a brace in the match, and the result extended Sky Blue FC's current unbeaten streak to three games.

"Tonight, we played at a very high tempo, and we are a tough team to beat when we play at that type of pace," said Jim Gabarra, Sky Blue FC Technical Director & Head Coach. "Attacking-wise, we are starting to look sharp and very dangerous, which makes us difficult to defend. This was a good performance for us, and our play was rewarded with the result."

Sky Blue FC got off to a rapid pace in this contest, creating a number of opportunities in the early going before making good on a great chance in the 13^th minute. On the scoring play, midfielder Katy Freels picked off Boston defender Kassey Kallman just beyond the center circle and carried the ball to the corner flag. Once arriving there, she serviced the ball across the mouth of the goal, where a patient O'Hara was perfectly positioned to strike a one-timer into the back of the net with her left foot. The notch was the first of the NWSL season for the U.S. Women's National Teamer.

With the host side continuing to attack, Sky Blue FC extended its advantage to 2-0 in the 36^th minute. Midfielder Sarah Killion started the scoring chance, picking off an attempted clearance by the Breakers defense that she played forward to midfielder Hayley Haagsma. The ball was then touched back to captain Christie Rampone at the midfield line to sorts things out, and the two-time FIFA Women's World Cup champion sent a ball upfield to a racing Sam Kerr, who took a touch before centering to O'Hara. Once the ball arrived, O'Hara finished it off with her right foot this time for her second tally of the game.

The lead was stretched to 3-0 in the 52^nd minute on a series that was started by O'Hara in the midfield. She touched a ball forward to Haagsma in space, who then turned upfield and found Kerr racing down the right flank. Haagsma then sent a hard roller to the area in front of her, and Kerr quickly collected before firing in her second goal of the season in just three appearances.

Sky Blue FC continued to create chances over the remaining minutes of this contest, but the three goals would be more than enough to secure the win and critical three points. Cameron accounted for 82 shutout minutes before leaving the field for the first time all season, making way for Aubrey Bledsoe to get the first minutes of her NWSL career.

The Breakers did put away a single notch in this outing in the 84^th minute, as defender Lauren Lazo was able to go top shelf on an assist from midfielder Rafinha. Bledsoe quickly regrouped after the score, turning away a few late chances for Boston to hang the final score line, 3-1.

"It's fun to be back," O'Hara after the game. "I'm happy, and I love playing with this team."
