Sky Blue FC Forward Paige Monaghan Named Budweiser Woman of the Week
October 13, 2020 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Sky Blue FC News Release
Harrison, N.J. - Sky Blue FC forward Paige Monaghan has been named the NWSL Budweiser Woman of the Week after the fourth and final Sky Blue FC Fall Series match. Her performance against Chicago this past weekend with two goals and an assist, earned her the honors.
Monaghan started the scoring in the 25th minute of the match after tapping in a cross from fellow forward Midge Purce. Just ten minutes later, Monaghan whipped a cross into the box that found its way to Ifeoma Onumonu, who snuck the ball into the net past the Chicago keeper, Alyssa Naeher. Purce and Monaghan linked up again in stoppage time for Monaghan's second goal of the match.
The New Jersey native has a knack for finding the back of the net against Chicago. Monaghan has scored four of her five goals across all NWSL competition facing the Red Stars. The Woman of the Week honors marks Monaghan's second of her career after scoring a brace against Chicago during the 2019 season.
