Sky Blue FC News Release

Piscataway, NJ - Sky Blue FC (4-13-4, 16 points) fell 3-0 to the Chicago Red Stars at Yurcak Field in a Sunday evening matchup. Chicago's Morgan Brian, Sam Kerr, and Yuki Nagasato each had a goal.

The match started out slow with possession going back and forth between the sides. Sky Blue's first chance on goal came in the 29th minute from the feet of Carli Lloyd. Paige Monaghan received the ball from a throw-in and quickly sent it up to Lloyd who hustled past Chicago defender Tierna Davidson. Lloyd went one-on-one with goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher and was denied from point-blank range.

Chicago scored their first goal of the night in the 31st minute. Midfielder Morgan Brian collected a pass and sent it forward to Sam Kerr on the left side of the 18-yard box. Kerr crossed it back through the center of the box to an unmarked Brian, and she sent it to the back of the net.

Kerr scored in the 33rd minute to put Chicago up 2-0. Forward Yuki Nagasato threaded a ball to Kerr, who sent her shot low just under Kailen Sheridan attempted kick save.

Lloyd had another chance to put Sky Blue on the board in the 62nd minute. This time Raquel Rodriguez threaded a ball to Lloyd on the right side of the 18-yard box and ripped a shot at Naeher who was able to make the save.

The final goal of the night came from Chicago in the 80th minute. Midfielder Zoey Goralski slipped a pass to Nagasato at the top of the 18-yard box, and sent the shot to the upper right-hand corner to make it 3-0.
