
Skodnick Returns As Voice Of Hockey On Mississippi Coast

BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Surge on Thursday announced that Leif Skodnick has been named Executive Director of Communications and Team Services, and will broadcast all 56 of the team's games during the 2009-10 season on the B2 Network.
"It's nice to have a familiar face and voice that the fans can identify with," said "Leif has made his mark in the history books as being the first voice of the Surge. With his added responsibilities and the new ideas that he brings to the table, hockey fans on the coast can look forward to outstanding broadcasts for the team's inaugural season."
A native of Princeton Junction, New Jersey, Skodnick spent three seasons in the ECHL as a broadcaster with Johnstown (2006-07) and Mississippi (2007-09) and was selected to the radio broadcast team for the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game in Stockton, California.
Skodnick, who earned a bachelor's degree from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, in 2002, spent the 2005-06 season as a graduate assistant in the public relations department of the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabres. Prior to joining the Sabres' staff, he interned in the ECHL's communications department during the 2004-05 season.

Opening night is October 24 when the Mississippi Surge renews its' Interstate 10 rivalry with the Louisiana Ice Gators! Game-time is 7:30. Tickets for opening night go on sale on September 25.
