Batavia Muckdogs News Release

Jamestown, NY - With the Muckdogs and especially the bats struggling, a trip to the southern tier to visit Jamestown, the team with the worst pitching staff in the league, seemed like just the right medicine. Unfortunately on this night, the Muckdogs made the Jammers hurlers look very good, as they could only manage 4 hits in a 4-3 loss to Jamestown.

Three of the hits came off the bat of leftfielder Michael Bourn. Other than that, Kiel Fisher would provide the only hit, a RBI single in the 9th. Amazingly enough, despite only having 4 hits, the Muckdogs had plenty of base runners as Jammers pitching walked 11 men on the night.

Starter Joe Diefenderfer (6-7) took the loss , as he allowed all 4 runs in his 5 innings of work. The bullpen, led by Zach Minor and Matt Padilla, combined to shut down Jamestown over the final 3 innings.

The Muckdogs offense has failed to total more than 6 hits in a game over their last 5 games, a run which has dropped the team batting average to .227, 13th in the league.

The Muckdogs try to right the ship tonight, as they head back to Dwyer Stadium to face the Jamestown Jammers at 7:05 PM.
