
Skeeters Pitching Struggles Continue In Seventh Straight Loss

SUGAR LAND, TX - The Sugar Land Skeeters lost their seventh consecutive game on Friday night, falling to the Lancaster Barnstormers 7-5. The Skeeters are 31-24 in the second half and still hold a one game lead over York Revolution for 1st place in the Freedom Division.
Joe Gardner earned his 2nd win of the season after seven innings, giving up four runs on eleven hits with one strikeout. Aaron Thompson was saddled with his 5th loss and his 1st against Lancaster this season after going six innings, giving up four runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and four walks.
Mike Jacobs gave the Barnstormers a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the 1st that scored K.C. Hobson. Caleb Gindl pushed Mike McDade home in the 2nd on a fielder's choice and Trayvon Robinson doubled home Gindl to extend Lancaster's lead to 3-0. Jeff Dominguez singled home Delwyn Young in the bottom half of the inning to make it 3-1.
The Barnstormers built on their lead in the 4th with K.C. Hobson's triple that scored Yusuke Kajimoto and Trayvon Robinson, making it 5-1. The Skeeters again responded in the bottom half of the inning on Lance Zawadzki's single that scored Jeremy Barfield to cut the deficit to 5-2. Mike McDade homered off Aaron Thompson in the 5th to make it a 6-2 Lancaster lead. The Skeeters added two more runs in the bottom of the inning that brought it within 6-4.
Sugar Land went into the bottom of the 9th trailing 7-5 against the right-handed Cory Burns. The Skeeters had a man on with two outs for Jeremy Barfield but Burns managed to get him swinging to lock up his 25th save of the season.
