SJHL's MVP Signs With Renegades

Richmond Renegades President/GM Allan B. Harvie, Jr. today announced he has come to terms with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Most Valuable Player, goalie ANTHONY HEUER of the Melville Millionaires. The 21 year old Heuer appeared in 72 games this past season for Melville and logged 4,317 minutes. During the regular season he was 24-16-1-7 with a 2.87 GAA and a .919 SPCT and two shutouts. He also had ten games in which he allowed only one goal.

The 5' 9", 170 pound native of Swift Current, Sask. also backstopped his team to the Credential Cup finals which they lost in five games. In the playoffs he was 13-8-1 with a 3.04 GAA and a .897 SPCT.

"Anthony will certainly be a frontrunner for our number one goalie spot" noted Harvie. "The SJHL has produced some excellent players and having their MVP come to Richmond is a real coup."

Joining the Renegades this season will be 29 year old veteran blueliner R.C.LYKE who spent last season with Elmira in the former UHL (now called the IHL). The previous season he played with the Richmond Riverdogs (UHL) where his teammates included current Renegades coach Brian Goudie, JJ Wrobel and Dan VanDermeer. In his professional career the 6' 205 pound stay at home defenseman has 16 goals, 52 assists and has amassed 511 PIM's.

Continuing with a busy week for the Renegades, Harvie also announced the signing of UCal's All Time Points Leader, SEAN HAQ, a 24 year old 5' 9" speedy centerman. In his four years at UCal, the 170 pound Haq played in 113 games scoring 65 goals and 145 assists for 211 points or an average of 1.87 points per game. He was also UCal's All Time Assists Leader, winner of the Julius Schroeder Award (for dedication and inspiration) and was second in the nation in assists for Division II schools.

The Renegades then returned to the SJHL and the Battleford North Stars for another center, 6' and 185 pound DARREN DELAINEY. Last season the 21 y.o. fan favorite played in 54 games scoring 19 goals and assisting on 33 others while accumulating 154 PIM's. He had 7 power play goals and was third in the league with 4 short-handed goals.

"The Renegades are going to be a fast, goal scoring machine this season," stated Harvie. "Players coming to camp are really going to be fighting for a spot. This will be an exciting team to watch."
