Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LAKE ELSINORE, CA) - Lancaster kept the game close for much of the way Thursday night as they tried to win back to back road games for the first time this season. However, the game got away in just one inning. The Storm pounced on two JetHawks relievers for seven runs in the sixth inning and run away with a 14-5 win. The JetHawks finish their first long road trip of the season just 1-6.

Both teams took leads in the early-going. Lake Elsinore scored three runs in the first inning but the JetHawks got them all back and more in the second. A lead-off double by David Flores was cashed in by Brian Pellegrini's single. Chris Jackson tripled home Pellegrini then scored on a ground-out by J.B. Shuck to tie the game. After a Lake Elsinore error put Marcos Cabral at second base, Jon Gaston hit a ball up the first base line. The plate umpire called it a fair ball, allowing Cabral to score and putting Lancaster on top. The controversial call led to a colorful and prolonged argument between umpire Ben Karis and Storm manager Carlos Lezcano. Lezcano was ejected.

He ended up missing his team's comeback. A home run gave the Storm the lead back for good in third inning and effectively ended JetHawks starter Jose Duran's day. It stayed a one-run game until the sixth inning. Lancaster reliever Phil Rummel had been strong, retiring the first seven batters he faced. However, he allowed six consecutive men to reach base. Jordan Powell came out the pen and gave up a pair of run-scoring hits before ending the inning with seven Storm runners scoring.

Gaston continued to pound Lake Elsinore pitching. He had three hits Thursday night and finished the series with nine hits in eleven at bats. Flores had a pair of doubles in the defeat.

The JetHawks will open a six-game homestand as they host the Inland Empire 66ers Friday night at the Hangar. Chris Hicks (3-2) will be on the mound for Lancaster. The radio broadcast of the game on Magic 1340 and online at www.JetHawks.com begins with the Pre-Game Show at 6:50 PM. The first pitch of the game will be at 7:05.

There will be a post-game fireworks show. During the game the JetHawks will wear limited edition pink jerseys to support breast cancer
