Six Nationals Named to MLL All-Star Game

Six members of the Hamilton Nationals were named to the 2012 MLL All-Star Game today by Major League Lacrosse. The game, presented by Moe's Southwest Grill, will take place on Saturday, June 30 th at FAU Stadium in Palm Beach County, Fla.

The game will feature a Young Guns vs. Old School format. Second-year pros Matt Dolente, David Earl and Stephen Keogh will make their All-Star debuts with the Young Guns, while teammates Casey Powell, Brett Queener and Joe Walters will compete for the Old School team.

Walters is making the fifth All-Star appearance of his career. He has six goals and four assists in two games this season. Queener will appear in the All-Star Game for the third time in his career. He has won two straight games to get the Nationals back in the playoff race at 2-3. Powell, the MLL's all-time leading scorer, was named to his sixth MLL All-Star Game.

Players who joined the league between 2001 and 2008 will compete for the Old School team, while players who joined between 2009 and 2012 will compete for the Young Guns. For the first time in league history, the MLL allowed fans to vote for their favorite players, which counted for one third of the overall voting process.

The Nationals will face a huge test on Saturday, June 16th at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Nationals will battle the first-place Chesapeake Bayhawks at 7:00 p.m. in Annapolis, Md. The contest is the fourth road game of the season for Hamilton, who opens the season with five of its first seven games away from the "Steel City." The contest will be broadcast on www.herbfm.com. The game will also be televised live on ESPN3.com.
