Six Dash Players Represent Their Countries During September International Break

Over the past week, six players have been all over the world representing the Houston Dash at an international level. Between World Cup Qualifiers and various international friendlies, the international break was busy for many Houston Dash players.

Newly signed defender Tiernny Wiltshire and Jamaica faced off against South Korea in an international friendly on Saturday, September 3. Wiltshire earned the start for Jamaica and the Raggae Girlz fell 1-0 to hosts South Korea.

Forward Nichelle Prince and midfielder Sophie Schmidt flew down under with Canada for a pair of friendlies against Australia. Prince started both matches, playing 75 minutes in the first match and 67 in the second meeting. Schmidt came off the bench in the first match during the 61st minute and in the 79th minute in the second match. Canada won both matches, with a score of 1-0 in the first match and 2-1 in the second.

Forward Ebony Salmon earned a senior Lionesses callup during the break, joining England for the last round of World Cup qualifying matches. Salmon was available off the bench against both Austria and Luxembourg. The Lionesses came out victorious on both occasions, winning 1-0 against Austria and 10-0 against Luxembourg.

Forward María Sánchez joined Mexico in Los Angeles for a pair of friendlies. Sánchez earned the start against New Zealand in a closed-door match on Friday, September 2. Sanchez logged 63 minutes in Mexico's 1-0 loss to the Football Ferns.

Sánchez and Mexico proceeded to make history, competing in the inaugural Copa Angelina against National Women's Soccer League side Angel City FC on Monday, September 5. The forward earned the start, playing 69 minutes in Mexico's 2-0 win to claim the first ever Copa Angelica.

Forward Michelle Alozie and Nigeria faced off against the USWNT in a pair of friendlies in the United States. Alozie started both matches, playing the full 90 in the first match and 83 minutes in the second. Nigeria fell both times to the US with scores of 3-0 and 2-1.

The Dash internationals all return for the Houston Dash's next match on Sunday, September 11. The Dash will host Angel City FC at PNC Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CDT and will be streamed on Paramount+. Tickets are available.
