March 2, 2006 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release
Boise, ID (March 2, 2006) - Sioux Falls Skyforce forward Noel Felix signed a 10-day contract today with the Seattle Sonics, Sonics General Manager Rick Sund announced. Felix becomes the 12th Continental Basketball Association NBA call-up this season and the fifth Sioux Falls NBA call-up. The league record for most NBA call-ups by an organization in a single season is 10 by the Idaho Stampede set during the 1998-99 season.
A 6-foot-9 forward out of Fresno State, Felix began this season in training camp with the Sonics and averaged 2.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 10.8 minutes per game in five preseason games. He was waived by the team Oct. 29, 2005.
Felix has appeared in 41 games this season with Sioux Falls, where he averaged 15.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per games on 54.4 percent (259-476) shooting from the field. He leads the league in blocked shots with 80 (2.0 per game) and is 13th in scoring. Felix played in the 2006 CBA All-Star Classic this past January, scoring 18 points to go with eight rebounds, two assists and one block.
It is Felix's third season in the CBA. Last year, Felix averaged 15.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game with the Yakima Sun Kings. He played his rookie season (2003-04) with the Idaho Stampede and recorded 8.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in 37 contests.
Felix attended Fresno State from 1999 through 2003 and registered 5.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game in 128 career games.
In Seattle, Felix will be playing for former CBA coach and current Sonics head coach, Bob Hill, and former CBA player and current Sonics assistant coach, Ralph Lewis. Felix will also be playing along side former CBA player Mikki Moore, who played for Fort Wayne from 1997-99.
Felix joins fellow Skyforce players Stephen Graham and Billy Thomas to be called up to the NBA this season. Graham was called up three times this season and signed a contract for the remainder of the season with the Cleveland Cavaliers Feb. 24. Thomas was called up by the Washington Wizards Feb. 24.
