
Sioux Falls Guard Corey Williams Named CBA Player of the Week

Boise, ID (March 6, 2006) - The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Sioux Falls Skyforce guard Corey Williams has been named the CBA Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 27 through March 5. Williams notched his second triple-double of the season and averaged a triple-double over three games to help the Western Conference-leading Skyforce finish 3-0 last week.
Williams averaged 22.7 points, 10.0 rebounds, 14.7 assists and 4.7 steals last week. In a 100-92 victory over Yakama on Feb. 27, Williams tallied his second triple-double of the season by posting 15 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists to go with six steals. His other triple-double came Jan. 6 against Dakota (14 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists). Of the five triple-doubles recorded in the CBA this season, Williams is the only player with two. He also has 13 double-doubles this year.
The 2000 Alabama State alum dished out a CBA season-high 21 assists on March 3 versus Idaho in a 122-108 Skyforce victory. He added a personal-best 33 points with eight rebounds and four steals in the game. Williams finished the week with 20 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds and four steals in a 114-87 victory against Michigan on March 4.
Williams, a 6-foot-3, 217-pound guard, is playing in his first CBA campaign, having past professional experience in China (2004-05), Sweden (2003-04), Brazil (2001-02), and the United States Basketball League (2000 and 2003).
He signed with the Skyforce as a free agent on Jan. 1, 2006. For the season, Williams leads the CBA in assists (10.0 apg.) and is fourth in steals (2.0 spg.). He leads the Skyforce with a .537 field goal pct. (132-of-246) while shooting .750 pct. from the free-throw line (78-of-104) in 24 games.
Sioux Falls (29-16, 4.14 QP avg.) leads the Western Conference and has won a CBA season-high 10 games in a row. It's next contest is tonight against Michigan at Sioux Falls Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. (CST).
The 16th and final CBA Player of the Week will be announced next Monday, March 13, following the conclusion of the regular season.
