Chicago, IL - The United States Hockey League today announced the CCM and Reebok player awards for the 26th week of the 2013-14 USHL regular season.
Winners include John Simonson of the Lincoln Stars, recognized as CCM Forward of the Week; Zach Werenski of Team USA, selected as CCM Defenseman of the Week; and Eric Schierhorn of the Muskegon Lumberjacks, named Reebok Goaltender of the Week.
John Simonson, F, Lincoln Stars: The 20-year-old led the Stars to a pair of weekend victories by recording six points (3g, 3a) and a plus-three rating. The Grand Forks, North Dakota native then followed up with a career night, scoring a season high four points (2g, 2a) in Saturday's 7-4 victory over Team USA. Simonson registered a point on each of the last four goals of the game for the Stars. Playing in his first USHL season, the University of North Dakota commit has totaled 50 points (23g, 27a) in 51 games, tying for 13th in League scoring. He has recorded at least one point in 14 of his last 15 games, compiling 23 total points (12g, 11a) over that span.
